Logical argument for consumerism

They say that you shouldn't be attached to materialistic possessions. Experiences are supposed to be better than possessions, because new experiences form precious memories.

But... Can you think of a trip you took five years ago? Ten years ago? How much detail can you recall from those trips? I'd doubt you can recall many details. What did you eat for breakfast on the second day? What were you wearing? Human memory sucks when it comes to remembering rich details in experiences. Even the experiences that are supposed to be life changing and stick with us for the rest of our lives wane in their impact over time. That's why reminders are so important.

Or cheekily, another thing to take away from this is that instead of spending your money on traveling for experiences, instead spend it on long lasting possessions. That way you can continue experiencing and deriving pleasure from the possession rather than having the experiences simply fade away over time.
